A lot of people appreciate the sleek design style of macOS. In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to bring those cursors to your Linux Mint setup.

About this tutorial

OS: Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon

Difficulty rating: Easy

Instructions

First we must download the macOS Cursor pack. We do this by visiting ful1e5's GitHub⬈ and downloading the latest macOS.tar.xz.

When the download is done, we open a Terminal (right-click in the folder, "open in terminal") and enter the command tar -xvf macOS.tar.xz. You will then get a folder called "macOS". We are pretty close to getting our cursors.

Now we have to move the folder to its destination. For that, we right-click in our parent folder (not inside the macOS folder) and select "Open as Root". The system will ask us for our password and then open a special window of our file explorer.

Time to move. We right-click the macOS folder and select "Copy". Then, in the navigation on the left side, we click on "File System", followed by home → your Account Name → .icons (if you do not see the .icons folder, right-click and choose "Show Hidden Files" in the context menu).

In the .icons folder we now right-click and hit paste or CTRL+V.

We close the "Root" file explorer window and open the application "Themes". If not done yet, we click on "Advanced Settings" and set the mouse pointer to "macOS".

Et voilà, you now have a macOS cursor on Linux Mint.
